School Lunches
Our lunch service is provided by Oxfordshire County Council (OCC). We are lucky to have a large catering kitchen as part of our school hall building, so our meals are freshly cooked on site each day. Our wonderful cook, Jenn, serves up delicious hot meals, with a choice of meat and vegetarian options. There is also a daily "lighter" choice, for example a wrap or jacket potato, daily salad and fresh fruit bar, and a choice of dessert or a yoghurt. School dinners are very popular here at Enstone Primary School - including with the staff!
For children in Years 3 to 6, the daily cost of a school dinner is currently £2.90.
For children in Years R, 1 and 2, lunches are funded through the government's Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme. Unfortunately, the funding that is provided from the DfE doesn't actually cover the cost of the meal, so we do ask parents to make a voluntary top-up contribution of 40p per meal, to prevent impacting the school budget. We are very grateful to our parents who do make this contribution, as the alternative is trying to fund the shortfall from a budget which should be supporting the children's education. We understand that for some families this might not be possible, and where parents opt out of the voluntary contribution, a school dinner will still be provided for their child.
If your child, in any year group, is eligible for income-based Free School Meals, we do not request a top-up contribution.
