House System

The House System at Enstone Primary School

On entry to school our pupils are placed in one of four houses: Earth, Air, Fire or Water.  Each house has a House Captain and a Vice Captain.

Pupils may be awarded house points for many reasons, including academic, sporting or musical achievements or exemplary behaviour.  Each term the houses compete to gain the most house points and win the House Trophy, which is then decorated with ribbons in the house colours.  At the end of each academic year the house with the highest overall number of house points has their name engraved on the House Shield. 

We take lots of opportunities to get together in our houses, to have fun and strengthen our bonds.  It's a great way for the younger children to get to know their older peers.

House Festival 2025

Every year we have a House Festival where we get together in our houses to perform songs and present art projects, as well as making individual entries into the competition.

In 2025, we explored different printing techniques in our art sessions, as well as having an energetic inter-house assault course session and performing some call and response songs and performance poetry.  We had a fantastic couple of days, with Fire House emerging as our overall winners.

Virtual House Festival 2021

In 2021 our House Festival had to go "virtual", due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Although many of the usual House Festival activities had to be suspended for this year, we still invited our pupils to enter work across a range of categories.  Classes 1 and 2 produced models and collages of endangered birds and Classes 3 and 4 produced posters promoting the concept of "Growth Mindset".  We set two additional challenges which were open to all age groups.  The first was to create an artwork on the theme of "Kindness" - this was open to any interpretation.  The second was to take part in a range of physical and sporting activities (within lockdown guidelines) and share photographs of these with us.  There was a great range of activities represented in this last category, proving that Enstone pupils were still keen to get out and keep fit, despite the social distancing restrictions and the cold weather!
